methodology
#
The project will be developed through the following steps:
#
# Identify Target Groups, map them and implement communication channels
Identify training gaps in University degrees in Transport and Logistics regarding the subject of
    intermodality
Elaborate a Case Studies pool (European Success stories) of European modal shift
Define a scientific framework for Best Practices identification and Case Studies selection
Select and develop 6 Case Studies (5 + MOS Gijon Nantes), confronting the deliverables from steps    1 to 4
Support the Case Studies application in one or more courses, giving the stakeholders/teachers
a ready to use training tool (via Moodle)
Adapt and validate the Case Studies
Distribute the Case Studies via Moodle

1. About the Target Groups
#
1.1- Mapping stakeholders:
#
# Universities/Institutes with logistics and intermodal transport related departments, their courses and
    staff experts (Main target group)
Universities without transport and logistics related courses but with the need to incorporate in their
    educational offer this contents
Training Centres, Business Schools and other entities that organize seminars and /or workshops on
    this subjects
Intermodal Associations, Transport and Logistics Associations, Professional Associations, Clusters
Freight and Logistics Magazines, other scientific or professional oriented publications.
#
1.2- Mapping training gaps:
#
# The project will identify the gaps and training needs, like knowledge, skills and behaviors needed to
be developed or changed, resulting in an opportunity of training for each stakeholder.

A questionnaire survey will be designed and applied to give a detailed analysis of training needs. This will then be available on site, to all stakeholders and the results analyzed to define the training contents available later with the case studies, e-seminars and other training activities.

2. About the Case Studies
#
6 written Case Studies will be developed in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German,
and French. A case study involves focusing on important issues in some contemporary setting, usually an organization or perhaps a sector or a government.

Among its uses are:
#
# To describe a particularly interesting set of circumstances, from which lessons can be drawn for
    other organizations.
To illustrate a particular theory or conceptual framework by reference to a specific example,
or to test how a particular set of circumstances may give rise to certain outcomes by reference
    to a particular case.
To describe a rare phenomenon or very unusual organization.
#
# Because of its real-world setting, it is a powerful tool of analysis, and one particularly good at addressing 'how' and 'why' questions.

3. About the Virtual Learning System
#
# The training methodology to transfer knowledge will be Moodle platform
(a software package for producing Internet-based courses and web sites, to develop project
designed to support a social constructionist framework of education).

This virtual learning system will be used as a communication channel and tool for sharing the case studies, lessons, assessment, discussion forum, glossary and survey.

The Moodle platform allows collective construction of knowledge for the opportunities of exchanging information and interaction with involved staff and stakeholders. Through this training method, it will be easier to update, disseminate and manage contents. This training method will respect the geographical dispersion of all stakeholders, and because it will be applied in different countries, with different labour hours, this creates a training system just in time that will attract a greater number of stakeholders.

At last, the information exchange created by Moodle will be a source of collective knowledge creation that will evolve and adapt along the entire project in a systematic way.
#
The e-learning platform based on Moodle software will include the following sections:
#
# Description of the training tools
Admission conditions and participation solutions
An e-learning space for each Case Study
A multimodal transport glossary
A bibliography of useful documents and websites
#
Through the e-learning space for each Case Study will be made available:
#
#

The Case, with Teaching Notes and suggested training methods.
A training kit with communication tools for the professional team leader
A summary of each Case Studies for publication purposes
Training activities, FAQs, e-seminars
